There was police tape over a dumpster. And a coroner’s van.
An employee at a nearby business informed me that a transient had died overnight or early morning. Probably related to either alcohol or heat. Or both.

Which is unfortunate. But a little less terrifying than our first assumption.

On a brighter note – I definitely recommend Mr. Clutch for auto repair. (He does more than transmission work).

The owner, Alex, is an honest businessman and good mechanic. A combination not always easy to find.

I love finding great ethnic food in Phoenix. I walked in to the Middle Eastern Deli, was greated with, “Hello friend!” and became an instant fan.

This cafe is half bazaar and half deli, with both sides of the space equally crowded. The market-side has canned and fresh Middle Eastern ingredients as well as fully prepared frozen items. All stuffed into three narrow aisles.

The deli side is a tight fit with too many tables in too little of a place. No worries – the food trumps claustrophobia.

I’d recommend skipping the pita sandwhiches and trying dishes a little harder to find in central Phoenix. Like spanakopta, kibbie, kababs, dolmades. Most dishes are around $8.

The Middle Eastern deli is located on the west side of 16th Street just north of Thomas. (3052 N. 16th St.)
