Lo Lo's is O.k but the ambiance screams hole in the wall and with the money they have to be making they need an extreme makeover. Lately I've been patronizing a soul food restaurant in Avondale called 5395. the restaurant is located on central between van buren and lower buckeye ( central in Avondale not in metro Phoenix). the menu is extensive the food divine and the atmoshpere makes you feel like your in a sweet down home eatry.

I come to Phoenix once a year, for the Phoenix Improv Festival, and I always include a visit to Lo-Lo's.

Here are two other places you should put on your food tour:

Los Olivos. Authentic mexican food. They've been in the same building in downtown Scottsdale for decades. It's right next to SMoCA and the civic center.

New Jersey Italian Deli. On the corner of E. Greenway and Cave Creek. Total hole in the wall but best Italian food for hundreds of miles. Try a cannoli, you won't be dissapointed.
