Arizona Animal Rescue and Sanctuary

Had a very nice chat with Carol from Arizona Animal Rescue and Sanctuary and I learned that a litter can have many fathers. We were looking at the litter above and she was explaining to me that the reason the puppies look different is that they probably had different fathers. Did you know this? Does this hold true for cats as well?

It does indeed hold true for cats as well as dogs. I had two sisters from the same litter, one a Calico, the other a grey tabby. They both had very similar facial markings reminiscent of their mother, but they were otherwise very different suggesting there were two fathers to that litter.
At least two vets I talked to about this agreed that’s actually pretty common.
Yet another good reason to spay or neuter your pets!
