This bothered me.

I usually have thick skin. Scar tissue I tell folks who ask. But a recent theater review by the Republic’s Randy Cordova is still bugging me. In his review of the show Blast, he referred to the “PBS crowd”. I ignored it at first, but it keeps bothering me. I have heard this before and always as code and it always rings for a long time after. I am tired of code, of discourse shifts, of hiding in language. And I am so very tired of bigotry and racism playfully hiding behind nudges and winks.

I wonder what he meant by “PBS crowd”? Do you know?

I’ve never heard that expression before, but then I guess there’s no way I could be considered part of the “PBS crowd”, since I don’t even watch TV. I would take it literally though, meaning people who like PBS. Which, the last time I watched PBS it was as about an 8 year old watching Mr. Rogers…so uh…

pbs crowd – crowd that supports the arts
and watches the drum and bugle corps broadcast every year
pays money to keep arts funding and arts porgrams alive

    is that really negative? kinna
    gross generalization.. yes

and on a different note, i’m really saddened that i couldn’t go see blast
