tom leykis is a perfect example of a guy that probably felt unattractive and unpopular and unliked and had low self esteem most of his life and so turned around, as many people do, to being a defensive, bullying, cocky, loudmouthed, hateful man. unfortunately, people that place self worth on looks and popularity early on and who don't get validation in those areas, don't always come to the realization that they should focus on their intelligence or wit or finding friends that value those qualities instead of shallow ones. he seems like he started his own psychological war with anyone who intimidates him so it's easier for him to degrade and belittle the exact people he wants to be like, whether they are women or men.

he's a braggart about material items, about women, about fame, about money, and on and on. it seems so juvenile to me. i guess he feels devalued by the groups he so desperately wanted to feel a part of so now he's just an over the top caricature. it's so apparent why he acts the way he does, so it's just laughable to me. it's too bad he's got such a rotten way of looking at things because of whatever gi-freaking-gantic chips he carries on his shoulders because he seems fairly intelligent.

at least howard stern seems halfway sincere in his self deprecation and will rationalize his attitudes toward things. it makes him a little less cheesy. tom leykis won't admit any insecurity and just comes off as a jealous little boy that grew up to promote himself as a hateful man. the easiest way to feel better about yourself is to try to make other people feel bad too.

a lot of people make good money out of exploiting their low self esteem and the warped attitudes and lifestyles they make a conscious decision to maintain. i mean, i just wrote 4 paragraphs. yuck.
