Zoo Lights

It’s that time of year again! Zoo Lights at the Phoenix Zoo. I love Zoo Lights.

Surely, you’ve been haven’t you? You haven’t? You must! It’s great fun!

What is Zoo Lights, you ask? Each year from the end of November to the beginning of January, the Phoenix Zoo decorates for the holidays. From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. each night (except Christmas Day) you can head to see “the other side” of the Zoo.

Nope, they animals aren’t out, but the lights are. Lights in the trees, in the animal exhibits, everywhere Christmas lights. Flashing lights, chasing lights, lights set to music, lights, lights, lights!

My favority display is the “Dancing Trees”! It’s fabulous!

Each year, a group of us plan a Zoo Lights night. This year we’re going on the 21st. We meet for a quick dinner and head over to stroll through the zoo with our hot chocolate and admire the lights. I will admit, someone, who will remain nameless, has been know to slip in “spirits” to spike the hot chocolate. Brings a whole new element to the lights.

The cost of Zoo Lights is $8 per person, children under 2 are free. Save a dollar if you buy your tickets in advance, by at least 4 p.m. the day that you’ll going.

This is a festive Phoenix tradition! I hope that you’ll partake and enjoy it too!
