Oldies? I think not!

When I was a kid, I grew up listening to Oldies. You know – the Beatles, the Beach Boys, the Temptations, Herman’s Hermits, Buddy Holly, Bobby Darin… I would go on forever. As I got older, my musical preference developed, but I still loved tuning into the local oldies station (KROD AM in El Paso, TX). Lately, I’ve been noticing that my favorite oldies station in Phoenix, 94.5 KOOL FM, has been playing music that clearly doesn’t fall into my beloved “oldies” classification. Right now, Aretha Franklin’s “Freeway of Love” is playing. I clearly remember hearing that song when I was a kid, and sure enough, it came out in 1985! I know that time doesn’t stand still, and songs from my youth are slowly becoming today’s oldies, but my goodness, it makes me feel so old!!!
