I’ll miss you, but goodbye!

For the past few days, I’ve had various members of my family around. I love my family, and I love spending time with them, but at this point, I’m going a bit crazy and I’m craving having my place back to its usual unoccupied status. There are certain things I’m very picky about, and over the course of my family’s visit, it seems like every one of my pet peeves have been testing my patience. What, you ask, have I been suffering through? Allow me to share a few examples.

Few things bug me more than people who chew with their mouths open and/or eat noisily. My cousins seem to be unable to eat without doing this. *smack* *crunch* *smack* *smack* *smack* Is it really that difficult to be polite when you have stuff in your mouth? Did your mother not teach you manners?

On a related note, I want to scream when people pop their gum. Like with eating, members of my family can’t chew gum without popping it with their mouths open, nor can they chew it normally without making disgusting noises.

I have a thing about people talking while we’re watching television. There are times, of course, when discussion during a program or movie is wanted – even necessary, such as when viewing A Dirty Shame. But please – when I’m trying to absorb the madness and depravity that is Britney & Kevin: Chaotic, I want to be able to watch in horrified silence!

The last of the out-of-town guests leaves in a couple hours. I can’t wait to have my place back to myself. Ahhh… relief!

Oh a side and somewhat related note, Adam just reminded me about something very, very important:

Never accompany a couple to Castle Boutique (or any other such establishment). It’s simply a bad, bad idea.

The Valley of the Sun. We usually refer to the metro area as the Valley.
