By the Time I Get to Phoenix

Thumbing through a recent copy of GetOut, I found a list of Top 50 Local Rock Songs. Not being a Valley native — they are a rare breed — I was tickled to recognize many of the bands and songs listed and had a little trip down memory lane.

Many moons ago, driving across country to move to Tempe sight unseen, I listened to The Refreshments album Fizzy Fuzzy Big and Buzzy in constant rotation. I bought the CD a couple months prior to moving and had no idea they were from the town I was to call my home. Sadly a few months after I settled in, the band parted ways.

I also liked seeing that Roger Clyne’s song “Green & Dumb” made the list. It is perhaps the sweetest song about stalking a woman that I have ever heard.

But the real find on this list is the discovery of “Teenage Enema Nurses in Bondage” by Killer Pussy. I simply must find out more about this song and band.

Rock on!
